Open your course like normal
Log in to ServSafe® and launch the SafeStaff® Food Handler course. Wait until a slide or video has loaded on your screen.
Open the Console panel
Press the F12 key at the top of your keyboard (on some laptops you need to hold Fn at the same time). If nothing happens, right-click anywhere on the course page and choose Inspect instead. A panel opens: click the tab at the top of it labeled Console.
Pick your course from the dropdown
At the top of the Console panel there is a dropdown that says top. Click it and choose the entry that has story or index_lms in its name. That is your course.
Paste your line and press Enter
Copy your line from the box below, click inside the Console, paste it, and press Enter. Done: your course is marked complete in seconds. If Chrome refuses to paste, type allow pasting, press Enter, then paste again.

Common questions
Can you skip videos in ServSafe®?
Not inside the course itself: the SafeStaff® player locks the seek bar until each video finishes. ServSafe® Skip works around that. Paste one line while the course is open and every video is marked as watched, with completion reported, in about 30 seconds.
Why can't I fast-forward my ServSafe® course?
The course is built so the fast-forward controls stay disabled until each video has played all the way through, and there is no speed setting to change. That's why nothing you try inside the player itself works.
I'm not good with computers. Can I still do this?
Yes. There is nothing to install and nothing to set up. The whole thing is four steps, and the hardest part is pressing the F12 key on your keyboard. If you can copy and paste, you can do this. Most people are done in under a minute.
F12 does nothing on my keyboard. How else do I open it?
Right-click anywhere on the course page and choose Inspect, then click the Console tab at the top of the panel that opens. On some laptops F12 only works while you hold the Fn key. You can also press Ctrl+Shift+J on Windows or Cmd+Option+J on a Mac.
Do I need to install anything?
No. There is nothing to download and no browser extension. You paste one short line of text while the course is open and it does the rest. Nothing stays on your computer afterwards.
How do I get the script after paying?
Right after checkout, come back to this page and enter the email you used to pay. We give you one short line to paste into the course. Each line works once and expires after 10 minutes, but you can come back and get a fresh one whenever you need it.
Does it work on my phone or tablet?
No, it needs a computer. Use Chrome, Edge, or Firefox on a Windows or Mac computer.
Will my progress be saved?
Yes. Completion is reported to the course right away, but the course screen may not look finished until you refresh the page or close and re-open the course.
It says "DS is not defined". What do I do?
You pasted the line in the wrong place. In the Console panel, click the dropdown at the top that says top and pick your course instead (look for story or index_lms in the name), then paste the line again.
Chrome will not let me paste. Now what?
Chrome blocks pasting the first time you use the Console. Click in the Console, type allow pasting, press Enter, then paste your line again.
